It has taken some time to come up with the right words as life without the heart of the PM’s in this country has not been the same. Thank you all for your kind words and condolences for Karin.
First we have to announce that this is sadly the ending of the story at De La Tierra Alta Kennel. Karin spent 26+ years putting her heart and soul into the Pyrenean Mastiffs and did much work to keep the breed thriving and healthy. While De La Tierra Alta itself may be dissolving, the legacy will continue on with fellow friends and breeders that hold the continued interest of health and longevity in this beloved breed.
We are working with those who were mentored by Karin and who are interested in keeping the genes and health of the breed alive. Most of our breeding stock has already relocated to Canada with expected new litters on the horizon! We will be doing our best in the coming days to reach out and put everyone in contact with our friends in Canada who will be continuing breedings with dogs from De La Tierra Alta as well as our other friends with plans to breed yet to be arranged.
With the dissolving of the kennels, we were left with much to do including the care and wellbeing of the remaining retired dogs. Thank you to everyone who reached out to help and who offered to open your homes to our senior dogs. All have now been placed with three remaining that will go to their new home soon. It warms our hearts to keep as much of this pack together as possible and that so many have come forward to provide additional love and care to these older dogs.
Now that the seniors have been spoken for, we may have some availability on some breeding potential PM's that will also need to be placed. We're working to make sure that future breeders will be reputable and are genuinely interested in keeping the health, good nature and longevity of the breed at heart. Will update with more information on possible available breeding males and females as soon as possible.
